About this verified tree
This Mongolian linden planted at the CDCS Golden Prarie Arboretum is currently the largest known of the species in Alberta. Mongolian Lindens are quite rare in Alberta, and have significantly different leaves from their related species, Littleleaf Linden and American Linden. This tree was planted in 1982 as an example of how the species will survive in an Albertan climate. Nearly every other provincial test of this species failed, leaving this tree as one of the oldest exceptions that survived the climate.
