Davis Tree

Weeping Birch (Betula pendula)

About this verified tree

My Weeping Birch is beautiful in all seasons. The wild birds - nuthatches and other breeds arabesque on the tree. A school girl wrote a poem in honour of this tree. The neighbourhood children want to climb her. The young mothers take photos of their 18 month olds in the branches of this tree. A neighbour, before her weeping birch died, had bets with me that she would gather more sacks of leaves from her tree than mine! When the wind blows the golden leaves in the Fall; it is like gold dust being blown. Also the leaves make a golden carpet under the silver bark. Young couples request to have their photo taken under this tree. My Heritage Tree refertilizes the soil because I use the delicate leaves on the flowerbeds in winter. I recycle my water from the kitchen daily for my tree - hence it has daily water. Thank you for encouraging the public to value Heritage Trees by running this Nomination.
