About this verified tree

This Dropmore Linden grows on the Linden Boulevard in the Belgravia neighbourhood. This is one of the only Linden trees that the City of Edmonton has fully identified on the avenue, being listed as a Dropmore Linden in the city's database. The unusual leaf variation, with large leaves near the base and smaller ones higher up, is an interesting characteristic. Some leaves also support unusual growths, appearing like upward pointing needles, which may indicate a disease or pest issue. The bark is furrowed and hosts a significant amount of lichen on its lower, shaded branches. This tree is being used as an example tree, as its species has been identified, to help ID the rest of the boulevard. It is believed that Dr. Hugh Knowls planted a variety of types of Linden species on this boulevard, so there very well could be more Dropmore Lindens in the area.
