This Ponderosa Pine is one of Hazeldean’s most noticeable conifers and stands well above the surrounding houses. It has a tall main trunk, a very broad canopy spread, and an unusual growth form that makes it stand out from other urban pines. Its size and crown shape give it a strong presence in the neighbourhood. The tree is also significant because it appears to be one of the larger and more prominent Ponderosa Pines in the area. Historical imagery shows that the property once also contained a large larch tree, creating an even stronger conifer presence on the site. With that larch now gone, this pine remains as the dominant survivor and a distinctive part of Hazeldean’s landscape.
