This is the oen of the largest single trunk Balsam Poplars in Alberta north of Calgary. It is incrdibly rare to find this species of this size in this part of the province. This tree shows the impressive size that Balsam Poplars can achieve when growing in ideal growing conditions and left untouched. Submitter notes: "This is the largest diameter tree of any species that runs for maybe 1000' along the stream. There are several similar sized poplars in this stretch which I've knicknamed The Cathedral Grove."
