Michelet American Elm
American Elm (Ulmus americana)
American Elm
About this verified tree
One finds the Cecil Burgess House, which is municipally and provincially historically designated, where the Michelet Tree is found. The tree’s canopy shades a large portion of our backyard, especially in the summer. This tree was named the Michelet Tree by the property’s former owner, the Hoyes, after the first gentleman who lived in the circa 1911 home on the property. Epcor had told me that it is the biggest elm on their records. This is the largest American Elm tree in Edmonton as of 2025. It is not known who planted this tree but the home owners named it the Michelet Tree after Frank Michelet who was the first house owner.
