This is an extremely old cottonwood tree near Lethbridge Alberta in Pavan Park. This is one of the few 200+ year old cottonwoods in the southern Alberta river valleys. These trees are very rare, as many were lost to early logging or damage. This one is in decline, but still an amazing example of how a cottonwood can grow naturally if given space and time.
