About this verified tree

On Jan. 17, 1986 a prayer and tree dedication cermmy were held at Edmonton’s Muttart Conservatory to honor Raoul Wallenberg who saved thousands of Jews fron the Nazis during World War II and since disappeared under Soviet custody. See Heritage Vol.14 No.2 1986. Wallenberg was Swedish and byor Laurence Decore and former Swedish ambassador to Canada Per Anger presided. the tree was chosen as a gracing living symbol of the hope that Wallenberg is still alive. We sought the tree at the Conservatory in November and were told it had been replanted at City Hall in April. It is planned to mark it with a metal plaque set into the grass in the spring of 1987. A wooden plaque was given to Per Anger as a souvenir duplicate.
