This large trembling aspen grows on the northwest side of Tawayik Lake in Elk Island National Park, within a grove of older aspen forest. It has a tall main trunk, strong vertical form, and a mature crown that rises above the surrounding understory. Although this is not the largest tree in the grove, it is part of a larger pocket of mature aspen that stands out along this side of Tawayik Lake. The surrounding trees show similar age and size, making this area an important example of Elk Island’s older aspen forest.
