Blue Spruce
About this verified tree
This Blue Spruce was planted in its documented location by Campbell and Faye Youngs and their sons, one of four spruces planted in the family's back garden — one for each of their four children. The tree honours John Youngs, born in 1966, who lost most of his vision to congenital glaucoma as an infant yet went on to earn an honours degree and master's from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and built a career with the Government of Canada in the Office for Disability Issues. Recognized as a Heritage Tree since at least 2008, the tree carries an official plaque and is one of the few heritage trees with a plaque that does not appear in the formal Heritage Trees publication.
